YWCA Community Spotlight Saturday, May 12

The Cornbelters have announced a community spotlight partnership with YWCA McLean County including, a CornBelters game night and cross-promotional support of the YWCA Dash Against Discrimination walk/run.

YWCA McLean County is hosting their third annual Dash Against Discrimination on Saturday, June 9th, 2018 at Union Park on G.E. Road in Bloomington. The event is a 5k and 1-mile color walk/run, with color blasting stations around the course, a Dash festival, games, and more. The CornBelter’s mascot, Corny, will also be on site to cheer on participants.

Dontae Latson, president/CEO, YWCA McLean County. “We look forward to working with them and other organizations throughout the community to share our mission of eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.”

Prior to the Dash Against Discrimination, the Cornbelters will be featuring YWCA as the community spotlight partner for their home game on Saturday, May 12th at The Corn Crib. The first State Farm Saturday of the 2018 season is Star Wars Night, including appearances by some of your favorite characters, a special player jersey auction, and a lightsaber giveaway for the first 500 kids in attendance. Gates open at 6:05 p.m. with the first pitch at 7:05 p.m.

“We’re excited to partner with YWCA McLean County to help promote their Dash Against Discrimination this June and also recognize such an outstanding community-centered organization at our May 12th game,” said CornBelters Vice President of Ticket Sales Ryan Eucker. “We hope fans will join us for our Opening Weekend in May, support YWCA, and join us at the Dash in June.”

Fans can purchase tickets to the CornBelter’s May 12th game night and support the YWCA by using promo code “YWCA” online at, over the phone by calling 309-454-2255, or by visiting the MICU Box Office at The Corn Crib at 1000 West Raab Road in Normal. For each Reserved Box Seat purchased ($10 each) using the promo code, $5 will go back to the YWCA McLean County.

During the game night, YWCA will be highlighted within in-game elements and will also be hosting a table on the concourse for early registration for the Dash Against Discrimination.

Following the Saturday, June 9th Dash Against Discrimination, participants will receive one (1) free General Admission Lawn Pass to the CornBelter’s game that evening (gates open at 6:05 p.m. with the first pitch at 7:05). Participants can wear their color run shirt to the game or show their race number/registration at the MICU Box Office at The Corn Crib to receive their game ticket. They may also apply the $5 value of the General Admission Lawn Pass and purchase a Reserved Box Seat Ticket for $5 off that game night (regularly $10 each).


The third annual Dash Against Discrimination on Saturday, June 9th is a fun-filled 5K run and 1-mile run/walk where participants will be blasted with color all along the course, beginning and ending at GE Union Park.

All funds raised will help support YWCA Mission Impact programming to end all forms of discrimination. YWCA Mission Impact seeks to address social justice issues in our community and society by providing educational opportunities to the public, building strong partnerships with other organizations, engaging grassroots community members in our efforts, and creating opportunities for our community to work towards the greater good. YWCA strives to be a space where people can learn about social justice and put their values into action through programs such as Equal Pay Coalition, Keep Families Together immigrant campaign, and Humanity Summit.

Pre-registration for the Dash is required. Register before May 18 to get $5 off an individual registration and $20 off a team registration!
